Pressures of Being a Celebrity

If by some chance you are a celebrity, then congratulations. But for the rest of us normal folk, we don’t fully understand what celebrities go through when they are in the public. Many celebrities just want to live a peaceful private life and be left alone when they aren’t working. I know it’s hard to feel sorry for celebrities because of the immense wealth it sometimes brings, but they pay the price of losing their privacy, and every little thing they do is in the public eye. A celebrity is famous for a reason, because they usually bring a talent to the table that not many other people have. For that, these celebrities are usually rewarded with a lot of money a fame. I’m sure being a celebrity is great, people love you, look up to you, or hate you because you have what they most likely never will. But the truth is that being a celebrity can be a burden to some, and could ultimately break them.

• The bigger celebrity you are less likely you will be able to just walk down the street without being noticed. Simple things like going on a stroll with your dog can turn into a mob scene. People ask for your autographs, take your pictures even when you don’t want them to, and hinder your ability to do anything normal anymore. Losing that sense of privacy is often the biggest complaint of being a celebrity.

• Celebrities don’t have much else to complain about. Celebrities are usually rich, beautiful and well revered in the public eye.

• Celebrities often struggle to balance their private life with their public lives. On one hand you want to be seen to gain publicity when trying to promote a movie or a new album. But on the other hand sometimes you just want to get away from it all and be left alone. Some celebrities don’t see their families for a long time when they are on the road, especially if they are touring with their band or playing baseball for a professional franchise.

• Sometimes being at home is the only thing a celebrity can do to truly get away. These famous people often live in gated communities to maximize their privacy.

• Celebrities don’t like living in big cities, they often prefer rural communities away from the media hot spots.

• Being a successful celebrity means knowing how to keep your family matters private and to only talk about business. Michael Jordan was a master at keeping the topic on basketball when reporters would seemingly try to invade his private life.

• Being a celebrity can be draining, media reporters simply will not stop until they get what they want. You just have to realize that they are just doing their jobs, and they have bills to pay.

Successful celebrities know how to lock out everything else and just focus on business. The moment you let your guard down, that’s when everything can unravel. Being a celebrity is almost like living two separate lives.
